Birmingham City deducted nine points for overspending while making loses and breaching financial fair play rules in the EFL.

Birmingham City to be deducted nine points for EFL rule breaches

Meanwhile in Scotland as every club lives within their means, one club is continuously allowed to masquerade as if it's working within the rules whilst losing millions every year and spending other peoples money.

    The good old SFA eh.

Big week coming up for Rangers in court this week, apparently Sports Direct have filed for £9.78m damages from them for deliberately breaking their merchandise agreement.

They probably won't be awarded that but if they were they could be in trouble.

Sorry about the link but it's worth it on this occasion. Hector is back in town and he's not gonna take no for an answer. Nail the f*ckin lot of them please.

Ex-Rangers stars face huge tax bills after missing EBT deadline

Former Rangers stars face huge bills this year after failing to strike a deal with HMRC over a controversial tax avoidance scheme.

It’s understood several of those who benefited from the Ibrox side’s Employee Benefit Trust (EBT) will be hit with tax demands – with some potentially owing millions.

It’s because they didn’t agree a repayment plan with HMRC by a deadline of April 5.

HMRC rules on so-called “disguised remuneration schemes” say the unpaid money will now be lumped into one income tax bill which is due at the end of the tax year. It’s not known which former Rangers figures have yet to settle with the taxman.

A source connected with the EBT investigation said: “Some former players were quick to agree a deal with the taxman who has been very fair in sorting out repayment plans.

“But others involved in the EBT scheme believe it’s the club who are to blame for this and are reluctant to pay the tax.”

    p:nth-of-type(6)","type":"performPlaceholder","relativePos":"after"}" data-placeholder-placeholder="" data-response-start="3149.6099999640137" data-type="placeholder" style="background-image: initial; background-position: initial; background-size: initial; background-repeat: initial; background-attachment: initial; background-origin: initial; background-clip: initial; border: 0px; font-size: 16px; outline: 0px; vertical-align: baseline; color: rgb(20, 20, 20); font-family: "Open Sans", sans-serif;">
HMRC was given power to go after former Rangers figures following a Supreme Court ruling in July 2017 that said EBT payments made under the David Murray regime at Ibrox were not loans but earnings that should have been taxed.

The payback could hit Ibrox old boys from goalie Stefan Klos to less heralded signings including Nuno Capucho and Julien Rodriguez.

Former club owner Murray, with an estimated liability of more than £3million, is by far the biggest potential loser.

A UK spokesman said: “HMRC is committed to providing affordable payment arrangements and enhanced support more vulnerable customers may need.”

    Same club they say.

Lets see if that 'same club' pays the tax bill of their ex players.

Just had a brief glance at that decision and in my ill-educated opinion, it looks like the Ashley is gonna take them for mega millions. Someone defending them tried to say that £1m is the maximum that they should be penalised and the judge has told them to F off and it will be much more.

Above is the figure that was mentioned a while ago.

The Judges written judgement stated it would be 'many millions'

He also slaughtered Rangers for basically lying throughout the case. This is the way that club is run, same as the last club.

European money is now crucial for them.

I think they are hoping for an amicable agreement now with Ashley to keep it closer to the £1 million mark but going on King's comments about him the last couple of years he will probably be in no rush to sit back down and talk it out as the judge recommended.
Best case for them is £1 million and worst case could be £10 million, either way they have just blacklisted themselves to any potential big money kit and sponsor deals as companies will look at them breaching contract and stay away.

The wider implications in the long term could be worse than the initial fee they will have to pay.

We will now start to see the Tav and Morelos transfer stories heat up now.

They got a toughish draw today and even if big Eric doesn't put them to the sword, they will virtually certainly be unseeded in the final round so they will be odds against of getting to the groups.

Remember when Dave King told the Rangers fans paying Ashley £3 million for this deal was a victory for them.

Maybe they might wake up soon.

Will be a tough game for them, probably not a lot between the two sides.

If you remember, when the old club first announced they were going into administration, they went out and tried to sign Daniel Cousin, for a fee as well. This is beginning to remind me a bit of those times They simply refuse to live within their means and imo every other Scottish club should be asking wtf is going on. Even some MP today has come out and said he can't believe that heads haven't rolled in the boardroom for the Ashley shambles but if you look closely at it, the reason they signed the £3m contract a couple of years ago was to change it from King being personally liable to make it the club who are liable. Well played to glib but surely there is one of them somewhere with a brain who can see what he is doing.

So HMRC overestimated their bill by fifty million pounds!

Is Mad Phil doing a blog about this?

If you look Into the blogger 'Rangers Tax case' you will see he actually predicted this back in 2011 as it was an argument over Net pay and Gross pay.

BDO the liquidators produced these findings in June this year so I question why it has took the Rangers supporting Times Editor to sit on this till now, as usual I expect they are trying to deflect from something else.

Make no mistake though wrong calculation or not the amount of Debt Rangers and Murray had would have meant regardless of the final tax bill there was only going to be one outcome.

And on another note it was the one called the 'Wee Tax Case' that eventually buried Rangers.

I see Rangers fans wetting themselves over this today like it makes some sort of difference, the years of financial doping rightly caught up on them and if it wasn't for such a weak governing body Rangers would have went under a year earlier as they shouldn't have had access to CL cash.

And again with Rangers sailing awfully close to falling FFP it still amazes me that the fans want to spend time attacking others instead of asking questions of the club.

Don't say yous were not warned, again.
