Jack has definitely played his part and he could still have a big impact yet. First thing Southgate did after the win was reassure him, probs told him he still had a big part to play. The focus was on resting players with the subs, we didn't need a match winner, so no slight on him that he didn't play. Shows why the mood in the camp is so good that Gareth is so keen to keep his players happy, and you could tell in his interview after the game how much he regrets leaving anyone out. Jack was clebrating Hendo's goal so wasn't sulking anyway.
It is refreshing having an England manager who resists all the media hype, absorbs it and picks the team that he wants rather than what The Sun or whoever (and the likes of us) think it should be. He’s been brave in that way.
Not impossible. Harry Kane is on fire! btw: Germany's Record win was such a 16-0 win against Russia at the Olympic Games 1912 in Stockholm!! (Germany's striker Gottfried Fuchs scored 10 Goals in the match. World record are the 13 goals that the Australian Archie Thompson scored in the 31-0 win against Samoa in 2001 )
Denmark have managed to grind out some decent wins. They aren't the best team but they work really hard so I am still worried we are going to lose and miss out on yet another major final. They do have a weakness though and one I know well. Vestergaard. He can be an absolute beast and he's very very good in the air but he's slow, so if we can use our pace up top to get him on the back foot then we will be able to catch him out of position. Christensen I've always rated but again, he has the ability to have a shocker as well and if we can pull Vetsergaard about a bit the it will put a lot more pressure on him.
Shane, ring Southgate. That's the hint he needs, I bet he didn't know that Vestergaard: Yeah, I know him from his time at Mönchengladbach, Hoffenheim and especially our rival Werder Bremen. He was top in the air but limited on the ground. Back then he had long hair and looked like a Hulk. First I haven't recognized him in the Danish team with the short(er) hair.
Denmark are a good team, they have some genuinely decent players and they are players who are grafters too- the likes of Kjaer and Hojberg won't give us an easy game. That said, without sounding arrogant, I still think it's a case of if we play well we will win. I know it's not that simple, but we clearly have the better quality throughout the team so if we play at our best it's a game we can definitely win. I've got tickets to the game and it will definitely be a special occasion.
Just gave him a call and he's thanked me. Said he will start Sancho and Sterling to try and get at Vestergaard.
I wasn't remotely worried about the Ukraine game but Denmark are a completely different beast, especially with the Eriksen momentum behind them. You know they're going to give 100% for the entire game and make life incredibly hard for us. They also know how to score goals, so I'd argue it's our toughest test yet. They may not have any stand-out individuals but they look like more of a complete team than Germany and I wouldn't be remotely surprised to see it go the distance. Hopefully having a full Wembley will be the edge we need to get over the line. If we're level going into the latter stages they could make all the difference. Think I might have to start drinking already
Italy V Spain Cant see anything other than a comfortable Italy win here. Spain have had two long and testing games in the knock-outs which will have an effect, especially against Italy who after a poor performance against Austria where right up for it and at it against Belgium. Italy 3-1 Spain England v Denmark Denmark will be a much tougher test, the momentum and belief they have is brilliant, they also have a couple of players with Premier League knowledge which will help them. Lets not forger they also beat us in the Nations League last year so this is not a given that i think we all felt the Ukraine was barring and typical England balls up. My confidence comes from the fact they did look shattered towards the end of that Czech game and i hope that momentum and emotion can only get them so far. Also the back three was so deep against the Czech with large gaps to the midfield that should suit us and finally, whoever they have played they have given lots of chances away so lets hope we can be as clinical as we have been so far. England 2-0 Denmark Im still rough today, god knows what happens after Wednesday if we win.
And a great avatar of this Agent P. Patrick Macnee as John Steed. Hero of my childhood. The Avengers, John Steed and Emma Peel
Last 5 meetings between England & Denmark in all competitions & friendlies have seen 2 wins a piece & a draw , 1 of the Danes wins was a 4-1 drubbing . It'll be a lot tighter than most are making out & if the team have had their heads turned by all the media hype it could be a long night.
Are most making out like it'll be easy? Everyone I know says this will be our hardest game yet. I think it'll be 1-1 and go to penalties. Sent from my Pixel 4a using Tapatalk
