It's ridiculous that it's suddenly become an issue to the fbpe people who've started following football now England are good. It's happened for as long as any of us can remember and will continue to do so across the world. If anything Italy's anthem shouldn't get booed simply because it's far better than ours!
Trouble is, the game is being exposed to people who normally don't have any idea what it's really like, let alone the hostilities of travelling as an away fan for instance. The stories I bet many of the old guard on here can tell of violence, racism, homophobia and more violence would bring them to tears just reading about it. Maybe I'm too indoctrinated into the game and can't see the wood for the trees but to suggest all English are scum is ****ing ridiculous, the vast majority of us are the same as anyone else. We want to follow our team and dream that we'll land the biggest prizes of all.
Then why did he only give the freekick after Kane was fouled? I'm getting sick to death of the negative reaction to the booing, the "diving" blah blah blah, I guarantee you if England had got knocked out there would be none of it towards Italy. All of a sudden because England got to the final there's all this negative stuff all over the place. **** off, I'm going to enjoy this no matter what. Sent from my Pixel 4a using Tapatalk
I went to the Sweden v Ukraine game at Hampden last week - the Swedish fans booed the Ukraine national anthem and no-one gave a shit. It I think it’s just more audible at the England games tbh.
It's a little classless and disrespectful but it's part and parcel of football really. I can understand to an extent the outrage from people that don't regularly follow football but seeing pundits and the likes jump on the bandwagon is silly. They know how the game is. Football has that little hostility to it. This isn't Wimbledon or the NFL or whatever where the fan culture is very different. People will make a huge fuss of booing the anthem and then in four weeks time you'll have fans booing YNWA at Anfield or fans booing Blue Moon and so on. I don't see a difference. "You can stick your f**king bubbles up your arse".. Football fans have always tried to drown out their opponents and in this instance I think it's just about giving off that hostility rather than it being about anything else. The opposing fans are segregated for a start so let's not pretend football is this one happy family. You can share a drink, hug and have a laugh before or after the game but for 90 minutes it's us v them. The niceties are pushed aside. Wembley isn't a great stadium for intimidation really but any small advantage we can give ourselves to make the Italians uncomfortable, I'm all for it.
I know on here some were having trouble spotting the ref in the Italy v Spain game. Seems a few were due to colour blindness.
