I think Alan Shearer summed it up well. You would be disappointed if that went against you but VAR were never going to over rule it . As with the Kane one
I'm going to remind you of this if you ever call Wilfried Zaha a cheat Never a pen for me, but one of those that can't be overruled as neither defender got the ball and there was (some) contact. Feel for Denmark. Although seeing Kasper angry is always funny.
Probably get a harsher punishment than those nations whose fans shout racist abuse. **** 'em. Sent from my Pixel 4a using Tapatalk
There were 2 balls on the pitch - and the Danish defenders failed to make contact with either of 'em while hacking Sterling down.
The uproar over the penalty decision is hilarious, I have genuinely never seen a more biased refereeing display up until that incident, the referee let Denmark get away with murder for the entire match. It's clearly a penalty regardless, but Denmark got what they deserved from the game, it would have been an absolute travesty for them to win that.
Regardless of what people think of the anthem booing - punishing it is a step too far. It's a bit classless but no more than that.
Not that I heard about. We'll do the same Sunday so it's a strange precedent to set, I'm sure we're not the only international fans to do it either.
I mean Sterling had already thrown himself forward before either of those contacts were made... It's a moot point, the game should have been stopped earlier when there were two balls on the pitch, Denmark were made to retake a throw in when one of the ball boys threw a ball on to the pitch to stop them taking a fast throw in.
The Danish free-kick should have been retaken due to Braithwaite being in the English wall. As with the added ball, it didn't interfere with the outcome so there's no real issue. These things tend to even themselves out over a game. As for the pen - it was soft, but most pens are these days.
Couldn't care less about the penalty. How many times have things gone against England before in big moments like Sol Campbell having a perfectly good goal disallowed in extra time of the Quarter Final against Portugal? Lampard's goal against Germany which went over the line that wasn't given etc etc. Winning tournaments is a combination of playing well and getting the luck at the vital moments. Both Italy and England have had moments of playing well and moments of luck too like when Austria had a goal disallowed for a fractional offside against Italy in normal time in a game where Italy were really struggling. Spain missing great chances against Italy in the semi final. Muller missing the one on one for Germany against England when it was only 1-0 etc. It's part of tournament football and this one went our way. Good for us.
