I know there was talk of illness in the American camp but I can't help feeling those players who performed so poorly on Friday, having not played for so long, badly let down their captain by not being properly prepared. The fact that Europe ended up winning by the five point margin established on the first day certainly seems to suggest they weren't ready which seems unforgivable in a Ryder Cup.
That was an incredible few days. I've never been into watching golf but I enjoy a round myself (very badly). I normally watch a bit of the last day of the masters and a bit of the Ryder before but it never really grabbed me like the last few days has. Thoroughly entertaining and I enjoyed every minute. Team spirit, the rivalry with likable personalities (on our side). I don't really get interested in watching sport as a neutral, with Hovland it might give me someone to root for. Either way, I'm really looking forward to the next Ryder.
Honestly think Hovland is my favourite golfer now. Really hope he racks up a few majors in his career.
