Shes taken over 6 seconds off of her on in the last 6 months. How much more room for improvement is there? Very exciting prospect
She's an example of someone who's benefited from the postponement. She wouldn't have qualified last year but the extra year has allowed her to develop her performance to world class levels and if she can continue this progress she looks a good shout for golds in the future. She's just achieved Olympic silver, that's the highlight of their whole career for many athletes and she's done it she 19. If she stays fit and stays sensible she should have a great career ahead. And even if she doesn't, she'll always have this silver medal. Taking Kelly Holmes' 1995 national record isn't to be sniffed at either. Long standing records are long standing for a reason.
What an unbelievable men's 400 m hurdles. Imagine blowing away the world record and finishing second. What an amazing sub 46 second world record run by warholm. Might be a while before he or someone else breaks that. Thinking maybe everything came together perfectly for him to do it. But who knows maybe he will improve even more and break it again
Always marvel at World records falling. There, (you would think) has to be limit on how high you can jump, fast you can run, far you can through etc. But we never seem to reach it.
A lot of people are saying the new shoe technologies are giving too much assistance and when you see a record smashed in such a dramatic way it does make you wonder if there's something in it. However he was just absolutely flying and he'd have got a world record today if he was wearing flip flops. It was a proper Michael Johnson moment, absolutely majestic running.
We’re even getting kids barely at teenage age getting medals! Well done Sky Brown. Might kick off a new era of skateboarding within younger people?
I think you'll definitely see an increase in the amount of kids taking part in skateboarding and BMX. Sent from my Pixel 4a using Tapatalk
13 , that's mental , not sure whether or not there should be an age limit for the Olympics . Is there a junior Olympics ? What price e-scooter in the 2024 ones
Just shows how quickly the times drop in Track cycling as we won gold in 2016 with 3 minutes 50 but only came 7th today with 3 minutes 45 seconds !
Bad luck I'd say in KJT's case. She was fully fit and raring to go last summer and the delay has been a disaster for her. An Achilles injury is always serious and difficult to recover from and it makes it even worse when you're a multi event athlete who needs to strain her body in so many different and conflicting ways. It's just one of those things, she's got unlucky with injury and been one of the big losers with the covid delay along with Dina Asher-Smith and Simone Biles who I'm sure would have been fine a year ago had there been no pandemic heaping extra mental strain onto her life and dragging out the build up. But it works both ways. Keely Hodgkinson wouldn't have even qualified for the Olympics last year and was fractionally too young. A year later and she not only qualifies, she wins the silver medal and breaks the 26 year old national record. Such is life. Heart breaking for KJT though. At least the next Olympics are only 3 years away and she'll still be young enough to be competitive. Kelly Holmes had a career blighted by ill timed injuries and it looked like it would never happen. Then at age 34 she won the middle distance double in Athens 2004. You never know what can happen.
she doesn’t qualify for the country she lives in for most of the year, so that was always going to be the case. She has Japanese and British citizenship as far as I’m aware I also doubt very much that she’s never been to Britain. She’ll have family here, and she travels the world due to her skateboarding
In the sailing the French submitted a protest that Team GB let the Poland boat pass them on the final turn purely to ensure the French boat only ended-up with a bronze, behind the Poles. Righteo Anyway protest dismissed and Cardiff's finest Hannah Mills wins Gold and now the most decorated female Olympic sailor in history.
May have been spoken about already on here but how did that cycling result stand when the Denmark bloke rode straight into the back of Team GB and them proceeded to scream at him when he was on the floor in pain? Sent from my Pixel 4a using Tapatalk
I know next to nothing about the bizarre world of competitive cycling but I do know that once the last man is 'caught' the race is over, so presumably the officials awarded the race to Denmark once the last placed GB rider was caught. That said I haven't seen this actual incident.
That’s true for Denmark I think but in this Olympic format Team GB were still technically racing for a position in the minor places ride-offs, so that muddies the water a bit I think. Been a few other allegations about rule bending involving the Danes. Could be construed as sour grapes given they gained half a lap on Team GB who were likely hampered by the fella caught being a late reserve.
Cracking win in the Boxing for Team GB's Yaffai I think he was called from Birmingham . Regan from Team USA is on now , he was amateur , turned Pro won 4 fights & now back in the Olympics What a crap rule , you're either amateur or pro shouldn't be able to pick & choose .
Yeah, the Yaffai brothers are from Birmingham. His brother Kal was world champion for a good few years until recently, and his brother Gamal's been European champ as well. Both of them were very good amateurs, but he's going to be the first to get an Olympic medal.
