I was listening to Clyde the other night and Hugh Keevins was saying that up until now every other game between the two clubs in the last couple of seasons has been a foregone conclusion. Our results and performances in them seem to have revised history because they weren’t foregone conclusions going into them going by predictions from guys like Keevins. In fact I’m pretty certain that as soon as Rangers came back into the SPL both him and Derek Johnstone tipped Rangers to win the title. That’s how much of a foregone conclusion it was. Similarly, we hear that Rodgers has never been under any pressure in these games. Again this is nonsense. The results he has gained in these matches (as in continually winning them) has made it look easy, but in many of these games there have been positive noises from the blue side which have failed to materialise. The last game at ibrox last season was a case in point. Had Rangers won it things would have been tight going into the latter stage of the season. They score within a few minutes and later on have a man advantage yet we still won. That was two pressure situations in the one match which were passed with flying colours. Then going into the cup semi final their fans were still confident (and their players cheered when they got drawn against us) but we turned up and win by the length of Sauchiehall Street again. So I repeat, it’s not that we have had no pressure going into these games, it’s more the case that we invariably turn up and play to form and win them (comfortably many times) which then sees the narrative come out (after the event) that there was no pressure and they were foregone conclusions.
I think we're going to have fun with Gerrard this season, he totally embarrassed himself yesterday with his post match comments, hilarious stuff. Also the clubs worst start in history, what kind of effect is that?
It's all going ape shite for Gerrard now, LIVINGSTON!! Steven Gerrard suffered just his second defeat in 18 games as Rangers manager as promoted Livingston stunned the Ibrox side in West Lothian. Menga strike gives Livingston 1-0 win over Rangers
McGregor bailed them out of humping today, not the first time either this season, finally the genorous luck they have been carrying ran out today. Gerrard will be sacked by Christmas.
Thats been the case a lot this season for Rangers but they have managed to snatch the win due to saves from McGregor and the fans have went over the top. If it wasn't for a proven Celtic side playing under par so far even though they still took Rangers to the cleaners, Gerrard would be under huge pressure and of they lose to Hearts next week any other manager would be sacked.
He'll meet Rodgers in the dole queue then Credit to Hearts, great start to be leaving the old firm for dead. Hibs, Killy & Livingston as well.
The Gerrard Effect continues. He has a 50% win rate as their manager but is somehow still given a lot of praise in the media. Can’t blame the referees (irony alert) every week, Gerrard. Our supposed ‘crisis’ sees us with a better win percentage this season too.
He's a lucky man. if we had shown the form we've had the last two seasons their challenge would be over already.
We have rightly been described as being poor this season by the media, Rangers on the other hand have been described as being resurgent etc after spending a lot of cash. . .
allegedly Steven Gerrard being rangers manager will boost the economy by an increase spending of £20 million by people [£5 million per old firm match].
As are you Celtic fans who are straight in here slagging Gerrard off after any loss or even draw making out all is lost. Just read back in this thread, hilarious really. I know you hate Rangers, massive rivalry etc, I get it, but chill out a bit lads. Rangers fans are entitled to be happy & optimistic atm after beating Hearts 3-1, big sign of their potential... following going top of their Europa League group.
