I like SL's idea. Maybe tweak some of the categories that have been used before, e.g. make it 2 relegations instead of 1. The only thing I'd add is that the categories should be generous enough for a player to qualify while still being at least a decent/good player.
a draft where each drafter is given a nation or region to pick their players from. Some countries like say all of the ones that make up Scandanavia get added together & others like Brazil would be standalone. I don't think there's any point in doing a draft too similar to previous one though, a rehash would be boring.
cool, if we did it we'd need to work on balancing the allocations out to be as even as possible... 1. Brazil 2. Germany 3. Italy 4. Spain 5. Holland & Belgium 6. UK 7. Africa, Oceania & Asia 8. France 9. Argentina 10. the rest of North & South America 11. Russia/Romania/Bulgaria/Ukraine/Poland/Hungary/Czech Republic/Croatia/Yugoslavia/Serbia 12. Scandanavia & Portugal etc something like that.
Definitely up for that, I reckon it'd produce some really interesting teams. Might be very difficult to judge but the challenge alone would be... Well like I say, interesting! Need some kip I think, I am failing to think of enough words.
That wouldn't exactly be a draft though as there's no risk of others choosing the players you're after
This. What about a normal category draft, each person picks one category (16 managers, 16 categories = starting XI + 5 subs?), but don't reveal their own category until the time comes for that round. Could be fun. E.g. it's round 16. Someone needs a striker to complete their team, but category 16 is "played at least 50 games for any club without scoring". Would be interesting tactically, to avoid getting yourself into that sort of position. Everyone would have to email their category to a non-playing person before the game to avoid cheating.
