World cup 1966-2014 I don't think we should put too many (if even any) restrictions or challenges on this... lets just see who can make the best team
... so only one drafter would have any single player as their land mine. It also introduces strategy into picking your land mine instead of everyone just going for Ronaldo or Messi.
I like the bidding too, we'll do that for my one. You bid for player X from world cup 1994 If you fail with the bid you have to pick a player who played for a team that was eliminated in the group stages of the 1994 world cup
I'm going to have to have explained to me in great detail but I'd be in. An idea for a future draft would be some way of making transfers, maybe being able to barter a better place in the draft in return for money and/or a player?
The other idea I had was some kind of Alphabetical link game. A letter would be picked at random to start with, for an example we'll use P. The first player then has to pick somebody who has a first name beginning with P. They go for P.Mertesacker, and then the next player has to use the last letter of the surname as their players first letter, meaning that the letter is now R so they could go for Ryan Babel, who'd make the next person pick a player beginning with an L. Would add tactics to the draft as you'd have to pick a good player whilst also making sure your opponent wasn't left with an easy target.
Would be filled with players who are obscure as f*ck. Adam El-Abd for example, is so hard he eats nails for breakfast and then shits them through a brick wall but I wouldn't be surprised if half the people in the draft didn't know who he is. "There is plenty right with football. The thrill of seeing your team reach the FA Cup 6th round, or producing matchwinning finishes two years running against the likes of Manchester City, would be enough on their own to prove the point. Billy Sharp’s t-shirt tribute to his baby son, who died aged just two days, was another example (as was the referee Darren Deadman’s decision to keep card in pocket as Sharp celebrated a goal by lifting his shirt to show the message “That’s for you son”) And then there are the things that are wrong. Step forward one Adam El-Abd" Hero
What about an international equivalent of the Club Career Draft? A lot of the players would be the same but the evaluation would be quite different in many cases.
