Same story as last year for Liverpool it seems. Strong first half which they didn't capitalise on to make the lead comfortable. Second half started ok but then Sunderland scored and Liverpool started looked tired and desperate, quick long balls in the hope that someone would be up to receive it.
Yes it's dissapointing to drop points at home in the opening game of the season but i have no doubt we will get better as the season goes on.
Liverpool have a new sponsor....Fairy Liquid. They were impressed with Liverpools ability to remove scum from the cup. Alex Fergusons excuse for Manchester Uniteds defeat to Liverpool was his squad caught a bug...except for David De Gea....he caught nothing. Ryan Giggs has had a wonderful career, he's been in 6 FA Cup finals, 5 league cup finals, 4 European Cup finals and one Big Brother quarter finalist.
Rodgers' first friendly kicks off in 15 minutes. Announced teams for the first half and second half so all the lads tonight can get involved. First half: Jones, Sama, Carragher, Wisdom, Enrique, Adam, Spearing, Aquilani, Ecclestone, Ibe, Pacheco Second half: Gulasci, Flanagan, Skrtel, Wilson, Robinson, Adorjan, Shelvey, Suso, Cole, Morgan, Sterling. 4 subs otherwise too, Ward, Smith, Lucas (yay), McLaughlin.
Hoping to see v City: Reina Johnson - Coates - Agger - Enrique Allen - Lucas - Sahin/Henderson Suarez - Borini - Assaidi Unfortunately that won't come to fruition and we'll end up with Carragher in defence and Gerrard in midfield...
Don't know with Carra playing yesterday, there could a good change he held Coates back for this game, Carra would struggle to play 3 games in a week
I reckon he was playing Carragher to get him up to speed, Coates has barely had a kick since the Olympics. Got a feeling BR just doesn't rate him.
Time will tell, if that's the case it will be two manager in a row.... not having faith in him, it took a while for Agger to show his worth... i've not given up on him yet, at worsted, he's got to use him in cup games, he can't keep playing Carra, he'll need oxygen tanks
Sterling has handled himself well so far. Absolute peach of a cross for Borini, who really should have buried it.
Lucas injury was in the warmup, which continued to the field.... Hopefully it won't take him out to long.
Gutted about the result, felt we played well and deserved three points. Sterling and Coates handled themselves very well and will do them some good. Skrtel; gutted he was doing so well handled the defence well, had a good game, then one moment of madness, like last week, gives them a helping hand. Gutted.
