He was injured, should be fit for the no mark match against the minnows though.

Well that was a fruitless exercise, playing an unfit youth team against decent opposition, they could have done with an easier game to find their feet. Not sure what that will have told Roy tbh except maybe that Ayala has alot to learn. But he'll have to pick from that lot for the EL match.

It was on tv here but I didn't see it. Remember Lautern were a second division side last season although they went up fairly easily.

What I think he means is they put out a very strong side, whereas we had a very weak side out. Not a single player that you would could being assured of a start for our strongest eleven.

Only 2 that would get anywhere near.

    Lucas and Jovanovic.

Otherwise we had Kygriakos... the rest were reserves. Not even our best reserves.

Exactly. The commentator mentioned their recent promotion so I'm aware of that but they were still too much of a stiff test with the team they put out. They knew most of the WC lads would be missing when the friendly was arranged, and as Roy said before these matches... it's a big ask. When you play kids, it's ideally one or two at a time. A minnow would have been a better match.

Yep! Tbf Roy doesn't seem too arsed about it. Maybe after losing two finals he's had enough!

Don't think Cole is in the squad actually mate. I think it's on Setanta Ireland though if you have it.

1-0 up against the bad guy from the Sonic games.

Pretty reserve team out aswell. Would like to see Shelvey get a run from the bench.

Thought we started off slowly but then got a grip of the game as the half went on. Nice ball by Lucas to set the goal up. Think we'll go on to score at least one more. Anyone elses i r a q g o a l s die on them? Having to watch it on a poor s o p c a s t stream now :(

lol, didnt know any word regarding streaming was filtered on here?

It was live on Setanta over here, Ngog took his 2nd goal beautifully , pity he couldnt do that with some of the gilt edged chances he got last season , he has good skills and gets into good positions so hopefully this is the start of a new era for Ngog

Watched the first 35 minutes or so on there and the stream packed up, so I gave up on it.

Flicking through the channels I've just noticed M'gladbach v Liverpool is live on Sat 1.

I've had to temporarily switch over, I can't cope with Gerry and the bloody pacemakers !

Insua playing, that's a puzzler. Shelvey in kind of a destroying role, looks good among better players.

Yeah he certainly looks ok, for an 18 year old he looks pretty assured and confident, not scared to have a dig or pick out a long pass, I like to see that in young players. But we all know what pre season is like...Voronin looked top-class in his first pre-season.

I like Bradley, wouldn't mind us taking a punt on him to be honest. He was class for USA during the world cup.
