The Random Stat Thread So, in numerous threads we hear about stats being irrelevant or whatever (although they're generally not really, but...) so I thought I'd start a thread up where people could put those stats that they can't quite find anywhere else for them to fit. Slightly amusing, unexpected, illuminating, just totally shite, whatever, but maybe stuff to kick off side discussions and avoid the diatribes from elsewhere. So I'll go with one. Maroune Chamakh has an incredible 100% shot conversion rate this season. However, that is from one shot. Yes, one shot from Palace's regular striker in 8 games, out of 22 outfield players they've used so far he's bottom in shots per game. But at least he's clinical, right?
Neither Man United nor Man City have players on only one league goal. Either zero, or more than one. Most pointless stat ever?
Us Liverpool fans have bemoaned our appalling set piece defending for a good while now. This backs that up. Norwich are incredibly good at them.
Same here for Tottenham, we suck at set pieces and it shows. Would have loved to see a stat with how many set pieces per goal because at some point a corner against us was almost as good as a penalty
It's kinda surprising that Spurs are poor at it as you seem a physically imposing team, but it takes more than that I guess. AVB changed the marking system? Very much so. Hughton gets a bit of a free ride there.
Doesn't surprise me that. One thing we did do well last season was defend set pieces. Shame we can't score from them. Just a shame we conceded sh*t loads from open play
We have a lot of strength in our team but we have very few guys who are good in the air. Only our center backs really, certainly last season, I think it's a bit better now with Sandro and Paulinho being decent headers.
every team who has won the league since 1967 has had a period of at least 20 years between title wins, except 1.
@OptaJoe: 1 - Only Sunderland & Crystal Palace (0) have kept fewer @premierleague clean sheets than Arsenal (1) this season. Flaw.
