This all stems from playing inverted wingers. It can work, but with Soldado up front, everyone is dying to see Townsend on the left and Lennon on the right. We did it for 25 minutes against Sunderland and tore them a new one, and that was without Bobby! If we do that today, it could be the difference between a loss and a win.
I'm sure the thought of Townsend and Lennon on the wings has the whole of the PL shitting their pants I sure Robert Soldier is capable of doing well in the PL but Lennon and Townsend are never going to be players who will get you in the CL. You could of done with a player like Willian this summer....
But the point is Lennon and Townsend are exactly the type of player who will complement Soldado perfectly. As individuals, maybe it's not top class, but as a 3, it has a lot of potential. Lamela > both of them, but he doesn't suit our style at the moment.
One for Arsenal and LFC fans. In last 10 years whoever is top on Xmas day has won the league on 7 occasions, and on the occasions that they have not whoever is 2nd has*. LFC cant fail to be top 2 on xmas day and Gunners can go top tommoz. There will never be a better chance to win the league than this season for me, with no team really taking a grip on the title. LFC and Gunners may regret it if they throw it away. *(2009 exempt due to games in hand)
Agreed, in most years there were one or two teams chasing, and those teams were far and away favourites at the beginning of the season. Had you said the possible top 2 would have been Arsenal & Liverpool (yes I'm aware it could be Liverpool/Chelsea) on the opening day of the season you'd have been sectioned .
only 2011 - 8pts seperated 1st - 7th. Top 4 all within 3pts of each other. You both back up my main point, that LFC and Arsenal may kick themselves if they fail to win the title in a year that no clear favourite is emerging. Your right other than 2011 its never been this close at xmas in 10 years, but 36pts is also the lowest total to top the league after 17 games. Because nobody has run away with it, giving clubs like LFC and Arsenal a chance to get a foothold in the title race, and once you win one?????well who knows??? A proper golden chance to raise the fortunes of both clubs.
I still think City will win it. They are phenomenal a home, and when they find their feet away (maybe starting today + winning at Bayern), they will be very strong.
I do agree that should either of us miss the chance it will be disappointing, but for a club that many predicted not to finish in the top 6 if we can secure a champions league spot it will have been a superb season.
I get what you are saying chief. But it's not the start of the season and expectations shift accordingly. It's like saying before a big match "take a draw here" only to find yourselves 3-0 up at half time. The draw is no longer an acceptable result and if it finishes thay way it's a chance lost. Not the greatest analogy but you see my point. Oh and its late chief.
Spurs have come from behind to win 3 successive away Premier League games. Surely this hasn't happened many times, if at all, before?
Do you mean the last 3 Spurs wins have come from Spurs coming from behind? Because it definitely isn't 3 successive league games...
Pretty impressive, untill you consider Fulham and Sunderland are major relegation contenders and Southampton barely have a fit back 5.
And we've done it all with many injuries too. Today we were without Vertonghen, Kaboul, Sandro, Lennon, Townsend and Paulinho. But in those three games Rose, Eriksen, Chiriches and Dembele have all missed 1 or more. And of course we've changed our manager.
