So the highest possesion per team shows 4 wins, the lowest possesion shows 6 wins. Didn't you also have something like 75% against Villa and lose? Also Swansea had the highest % in 6 of them games above and didnt win a single one.
Possession isn't the be all and end all and what a team does with the ball counts most in end results, but generally teams who keep the ball better do better. You'll get games where the team with lower amount of possession win, but it's basically always much less often unless there are specific tactical reasons. This implies that you're trying to suggest keeping possession is that important, whereas it actually is. For instance, overall this season Sunderland, Villa & Crystal Palace are the teams with the lowest amount of average possession per game (18th, 19th & 20th respectively). Villa specifically set up to play on the counter so their level is one of the odds you'll get doing better than their average because of this as it's a specific tactical ploy, but the other two are the leagues bottom two teams. Whereas 7 of the top 8, and 9 of the top 10 in the table all have an average possession count per game of 54% or higher.

Yeah about that stat, I think nfcdin has misinterpreted that. That's the values of being dribbled by opposing players. Most succesful dribbles would be Andros Townsend 4.3 Eden Hazard 3.7 Luis Suárez Liverpool 3.3 Nani 2.8 Ross Barkley 2.7 Stéphane Sessegnon 2.6 Mousa Dembélé 2.6 Hatem Ben Arfa 2.5 Fabian Delph 2.5 Philippe Coutinho 2.5
Lucas top for tackles per game, and in the top 10 for interceptions and pass accuracy, yet it is apparantly unthinkable that he is equal to or better than Sandro .
, in fairness, he has been doing the interceptions and tackling for Gerrard for the last 3 years too .
That's exactly why he has that amount. He's doing a 2 man job, back when we played with Modric and VDV in midfield Sandro had a lot more tackles and interception ( last year before his injury he had most tackles and interceptions in Europe big leagues ) but right now we have 3 midfielders who challenge for the ball. On top of that we play more than any other team in the oppositions third so there's even less to tackle. That said, pure defensively I don't think there's much between both players defensively, I do think Sandro has better stamina, is more athletic and is a bit better going forward while Lucas his positional awareness is probably better. But Lucas looking jaded at times might be just because of Gerrard doing little.
I agree BeeLz, was just a jibe at one of your fallen comrades . Lucas for me tactically is far better, whilst Sandro is the better athlete, as you say though- if Lucas is given someone willing to actually run next to him he may be less jaded and suffer less physically.
It's not. It's a list of players that have dribbled past the most opposing players. Successful dribbles is a different stat to dribbling past opposing players. If you run 50 yards with the ball up the wing, and cross the ball in, without going past a single player, it's still a successful dribble, which is the stat you're referring to.
No, those stats come from whoscored.com and it clearly says, "Dribbled by other team players" and falls in to the defending category. And how would you explain Arteta having 0.9 successful dribbles yet having 1.9 in the bracket you posted? Oh and successful dribbles are only counted when a player dribbles past another one from their glossary Dribble (Successful Dribble) - Taking on an opponent and successfully making it past them whilst retaining the ball Dribbled - Being dribbled past by an opponent without winning a tackle
Fair enough. Although those stats came from that website I did not get them from there. I literally copied and pasted it from somewhere else. Where accompanying the stat they have put:
Beelz is correct. Those stats are definitely the number of times a player has been dribbled past. http://www.whoscored.com/Regions/25...erStatistics/England-Premier-League-2013-2014 - look in the defending category.
Hull are the only team to concede less than 3 goals at the etihad in the premier league this season......
Cheers for that Gal, interesting. Kind of shows that Tottenham, whilst creating a lot of chances, aren't creating the type of chances Soldado thrives on.
