It doesn't surprise me that you read an interview that gave you that impression, i myself have read similar ones. It was the same last summer too.

But one thing though, for a player that i am 95% sure doesn't want to be at the club he doesn't let it affect his game, as bar the first part of the season where he let that and other things affect his attitude and play he has been one of our best players.

As for his wife, i know she is in a foreign country but she really needs to look up the word support and start showing it. You hear alot of these footballers wives being mongs too often ... i was due to be married on the 8th May this year and postponed it because my other halfs team had a play off semi final .. i compromised and she needs to do that, after all its not forever is it.

TBH, i don't pay much attention to the Mirror/Star/Mail most of it is bollox's... Barca looks to have nailed Villa for 35m, so can't see Barca getting Torres as well? that would break their budget, then theres strong links with Fab also heading to Barca, with Fab throwing hints he wouldn't mind going (come & get me call).... rumours now of Barca contacting Arsenal to make positive progress with talks? so theres now a good chance Mascherano may stay!

As for Gerrard... well god knows he can be a moody bitch at times, his stock valve as peaked, so hes only one out of the three, who could possibly move this season, Gerrard's said to be cause most of the unsettling in the changing room over Xmas period, although he got his head back together over the last couple of months, hes just so unpredictable at the moment, if he as good WC2010, he may just stay.

The problem is the ownership, we've heard all the above players say they want to see 3/4 quality players brought in this season, unless the owners allow Rafa to reinvest from players that are sold, back in to the team, its impossible to improve the squad.

    Ziegler to make Anfield switch.

Liverpool are ready to make an £8.5m move for Sampdoria's left sided player Reto Ziegler, according to the Daily Mail. The former Spurs man can play at left-back or left-wing, and is thought to be employed in defence by Rafa Benitez. Juventus, Atletico Madrid and Fiorentina are also said to be interested in the Swiss international.......

Bradford City youngster Callum Pilkington is poised to complete a switch to Premier League side Liverpool.

The 14-year-old striker is reportedly set to move to Anfield for an undisclosed fee with add-ons set to follow........

Stuttgart are planning a bid for out-of-favour Liverpool winger Albert Riera.:bye

The 28-year-old is expected to leave Anfield this summer following a series of outbursts in the Spanish press against the club and manager Rafael Benitez.
Yesterday he delivered a fresh onslaught by accusing Benitez of having too much power at the club and expressing once again his desire to leave after being overlooked for Vincente del Bosque's squad that will travel to the World cup.

According to reports in Germany, former Tottenham Hotspur boss Christian Gross is hoping to lure the temperamental winger to the Mercedez-Benz Arena as he plans to fill the void currently in Die Roten's left-hand side of midfield........

Liverpool today confirmed they have agreed a permanent deal with Athletic Bilbao for Mikel San Jose.

The 20-year-old will complete the transfer back to Spain when his loan with the La Liga club expires in June.........

Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez is preparing a move for Real Madrid legend Raul. Benitez is now almost certain to remain the Anfield boss for at least one more season and is looking to bolster his squad on a limited budget and has targeted Raul as a player that would come very cheap if he cost anything at all with a mass of experience.

Raul has a lifetime contract with Real Madrid that automatically gets renewed each season providing he makes at least 30 appearances, something he achieved again last season but that does not mean that Real Madrid would charge Liverpool a fee for the 32 year old and if they did it would be negligible, a scenario that would be very welcomed in the Anfield boardroom.

Raul would fit in perfectly at Anfield and be the partner that Fernando Torres has been crying out for, he may be getting on at 32 years of age but his experience alone would make the signing worthwhile for Benitez.
The only sticking point could be the wages, Raul is still on an excellent wage at Real Madrid, rumoured to be €60000 a week and it is very unlikely that Liverpool would match that, however with Jose Mourinho coming in and the likelihood that he will not play Raul in as many as 30 games the former Spanish national team captain may sacrifice his huge wage in return for regular football at Anfield.

But where is this £8.5 million coming from? Who are we going to sell to make that money because as far as i'm aware, we haven't got two acnes to rub together.

San Jose, Riera, and looking more like Benayoun?

Speaking to the press about his plans, Benitez revealed:

"We are working, we know the players but there is an added difficulty - the World Cup

"It makes a lot of people wait. There are players who may have a smaller name but can increase their value.

"There are players who come with a big name and are very expensive. So we have to wait and I think the World Cup will determine the transfer market this year

"I have an idea and I think it's important to wait and do the right thing at the right moment."

"As a manager, you have to have a specific type of behaviour," he added.

"At times, you keep your distance but those who know you on a day-to-day basis and know your past, know you.

"From then on you can control more or less the image or the cliches that are created around you.

"I try to be respectful, with the media also - sometimes positive, sometimes not so much.

"But society works like this and what you have to do is to stick to your principles.

"Maybe in the world of football there are fewer people who analyse it, recognise it and value it.

"But, in the world of culture, in the university world, they value it and that's important."

Seems pointless dicussing transfers when our club is still under the ownership of the Yanks.

Birkenhead any news on the ownership? You're usually pretty up to speed with all that.

I think you need better wingers, and re-think your team. The team I'd play if I was the Spaniad would be:
    Reina
Johnson Agger Cara (Don't know any of your left backs)
??? Gerrard Aqualani Babble (I believe. like Nani, he's come good recently?)
    Kuyt (sp?) Torres.

This gives you the ability to use Gerrard to the best of, IMO, his ability. I have Aqualani in because he looks class, and I don't like, nor think mascherano is any good, perhaps he could play lb? I'd probably by Jesus Navas for RM as he looks class, and you need one more proven striker, that's not injury prone and you fine IMO.

:eeek I didn't realise it was that much .. last accounts report i read it was in the region of £300-£400 million

First of all we have no money to buy anyone

To the rest of your post. I take it you've not seen Mascherano as to label him not any good is ridiculous. Babel, whilst improved last season is in need of further improvement and i'd prefer Maxi there. Gerrard and Aquilani alongside each other is too attacking and gives our back four no protection and also if one was made to be defensive it would stifle their game, therefor one needs to play behind Torres and the other as an attacking midfielder. Which way round is not an issue i don't think.

IF we had funds a back up striker who is proven is needed as a dire need, a left back and an out and out winger but as we don't the best line up we have is imo:

    Reina
    Johnson, Carra, Agger, Insua
    Kuyt, Mascherano, Aquilani, Maxi
    Gerrard
    Torres

Subs: Keeper (can't spell his name) Sktrel, The greek, Lucas, Babel, Yossi

This is how i see the setup next season, (assuming we lose no one of note!)
    Reina
    Johnson, Carra, Agger, ??????
    Mascherano, Gerrard
    Maxi, Aquilani, Jovanovic
    Torres

Subs: (New backup Keeper) Insua, Sktrel, The greek, Kuyt, Lucas, Babel, Yossi

I see Gerrad dropping back, with Aquilani playing behind Torres in a (4-2-3-1) or (4-1-4-1)

    Goalkeeper
    Reina, ????, Gulacsi

    Strikers
    Torres, Kuyt, Jovanovic, Babel, Ngog

    Wingers
    Maxi, Kuyt, Jovanovic, Babel, Yossi

    Mdifeilders
    Gerrard, Aquilani, Maschrano, Lucas, Yossi

    Right backs
    Johnson, Kelly, ????, Carra

    Centre backs
Carra, Skrtel, Agger, The Greek, Ayala

    Left back
    ????, Insua, Kelly, Robinson

    Players on the move.

    Riera(6m), Cavalieri(3m), Spearing(2m), Degen(2m), Itandje(2m)

With the above cash... We only a decent left back, left winger & a new backup keeper.
    x3 players?

What would i like to see, to appease Gerarrd.... is Grab Joe Cole on a free, his wages will be the problem, wanting 90K, so sell Yossi to off set his wages, plus adds a little more to transfer kitty.
