I love Sane but I think he deserves first team football at this stage of his career. He would simply be a squad rotation option.

Elliott looks to be signing a 3 year deal from July.

Shame we don't look to be buying players this window, but great to see them using what money is available tying up the likes of Elliott here, Lallana for a month, Gini (positive talks over a 3 year deal), Alisson and VVD. And thats more important than the latest shiny thing.

The reality is that to improve any area of our squad significantly enough to make it worthwhile would cost more than any club should realistically be spending in this macroeconomic crisis tbh. Unless we make a few sales I really can't see much happening, even then I'd only expect a wide forward if we sold Shaqiri & Wilson for example. Quite excited to see Brewster, Jones, Williams, Hoever and Elliot get more opportunities to push on.

  4. bit surprised eliiott is only been given a 3 year deal. Or will sign such. he should be secured on at least a 5 year deal with age review clauses as he performs. if he takes off like we hope he could be the next raheem if the power is with him and an agent. It just seems at odds with our usual policy.

He says he's a giant fan of the club so lets just see what happens.

I'd agree that a longer contract for vvd is a better use of money available right now.

I know its rubbish but willian imo would be ideal when we say good bye to wilson and shaqiri as he'd fit right in short term imo and give elliott more time to develop. If we could get 30mil in todays global scenario for wilson and shaqirir it would be amazing.

  6. Didn't know that.

I remember fabregas getting done by arsenal on a really long contract so is it a new(ish) rule?

Ruben Neves being linked from Wolves.....not sure how him, Fabinho and Henderson would work. Would he be an alternative to Henderson in the middle and then Gini / Chamberlain along with Fabinho?

Were you under a rock when FSG passed on signing Werner due to lack of money? Don't even entertain any transfer rumour that wouldn't be a bargain fee. I don't think we'll sign anyone at all until some fringe players are offloaded, but even then the fees they'd fetch will be less in the current climate, so we may sign absolutely no one in the next window.

Chirivella moving on a free to Nantes, not shocked and it's definitely the best move for him but sad to see him move on. He didn't get many chances (which isn't a shock given our squad) but he looked a classy little player when he did.

Nope not under a rock.....just because the money is not there now doesn't mean they won't have things in the pipeline for when some fringe players do leave.

Still getting linked with Koulibaly, it makes no sense.

No thanks. Far too expensive and I see no reason to upgrade on Gomez and Matip. Gomez is on his way to being a world class talent.

Yeah definitely not happening, we are being linked with a very highly rated young cb from Marseille who can also cover LB called Boubacar Kamara. Marseille are in some financial difficulties so a deal could be pretty reasonable apparently.

Also more rumours that Ben White is available for £20m this summer, either of those deals seem very logical given our squad age profile right now and how we tend to operate in the market.

  16. I think the marseille lad was linked before. I can't tell if its just his agent restirring a pot he stirred before or what. usually I take a almost all of these stories as complete rubbish

We do need LB cover badly though, Milner as back up isn't viable much longer.

These Alacantara rumours gathering real momentum,he's a player I've always rated as one with the potential to be one of the best, but sadly he got sucked into the belief that a move to Barcelona would be one for the betterment of his football career 'see Coutinho'. I have to admit the thought of a midfield with him and Keita pulling the strings and Fabinho sitting in behind is mouthwatering.
