When we thumped you 6-0 in a league game your fans were doing a conga around the away end

Keep up Kizlet, I hate them for Italia 90!

Mind, it's curious that the one time I express some British patriotism everyone disagrees... They should call me "J Political Judgment H"

    ...which is part of Britain...

What do they teach in schools today :p

Edit: hold my hands up, I have had a mare there... :fail:

I was still supporting England when I was 10 though, it was before I realised I was obliged to make a choice... It sucks being a mongrel.

Good to know. What I've seen on espn and other American stations basically never covered anything after the cup started.

That has to be one of the most humiliating nights in Brazilian footballing history, they were simply torn apart by a brilliant and ruthless Germany side who surely now have to be hot favourites for the trophy.

It really does show you how important a player like Thiago Silva is at the back for the Brazilians, without him they looked a total and utter mess defensively, no wonder Brazil were so desperate to get the card and suspension overturned as he held the defence together. Couple this with Neymar's loss, him being the only player who kept their attacking play going all tournament and all the deficiencies that were papered over were finally exposed in the most brutal of circumstances.

40 million for David Luiz makes Ross McCormack's 11 million move to Fulham look like the bargain of the century, he was a shaky defender with Benfica in the Portuguese league before joining Chelsea, so against the top teams, there was always that chance he would be brutally exposed. Dante's average form for Bayern this season continued at this WC and the two fullbacks were shocking, to take an over the hill Maicon and Alves over Rafael, to leave out Felipe Luis and to not bother taking Miranda after his exceptional season with Atletico all point the finger of blame at Scolari. He was too loyal with his players, Hulk should have been moved centrally to replace Fred who has been abysmal all tournament, a poor selection of WC strikers in general if you include Jo in the squad and most crucial of all, the failure to take a creative attacking midfielder like a Ganso, Kaka, Coutinho, Lucas Moura who could really have given them a different option should it have been needed.

His managerial reputation is in tatters now, likewise the reputation of all these players, the 1950 team who failed in the final on home soil were crucified and scarred for life for failing on home soil before the days of tv, mass media and football radio/tv phone ins. Imagine what it will be like for this generation of players now, it will be a mental scare they can simply not escape from for decades imo. Like Tim Vickery said though, maybe this defeat might be what Brazil needs, a wake up call to get developing creative midfield players and top quality strikers again as right now, one has to say they are lacking in both and it might well answer why the selection of strikers for Brazil at the WC was so poor, maybe Scolari simply hasn't got a good pool of players to select from up front.

Germany on the other hand look very well set, their squad is still young with many of their players between the ages of 23-29 and either in their peak years or not even at their peak yet, they look a great bet to win this WC and then do a Spain and win the Euros in 2016, even come the WC in Russia in 2018, all of the starting Eleven who played tonight will probs still be around apart from Klose and possibly Lahm, so there is every chance they could equal Brazil's 5 WC triumphs four years from now.

Well I am stunned. I wasn't supposed to get the result until the morning when I watched the game but that was a score no one could keep quiet.

    Absolutely gobsmacked.

Making good of a bad situation I picked up a few quid as backed Germany to win.

Fair play to the Brazilian fans who stuck around for the final whistle. Would have been easy to piss off when the game was over at 4-0. How many of us would see out the 90 minutes while being snotted at home.
