Yeah, it's a tough situation for most people. At least they had a good run.
That last goal was also applauded, quite rightly so mind. I think I'd have left earlier though.

talking of leaving before the end i have seen Burnley take some awful hammerings and always stuck it out till the death. Me and my mate were at the United v City game a few seasons back when City battered them and he wanted to leave early but as i was driving he had to stop.
    .....................
Last night a lot of the talk was about how poor Brazil were and rightly so but the Germans on that performance would of beaten most sides , they had everything you want to see from a side

Never seen anything like that in my life. As the game unfolded it became quite apparent that I was watching football history in the making.

The scoreline speaks for itself regarding the Germans, but the Brazilians need to do some serious soul-searching before the Copa America next year.

They desperately need to bin their awful strikers Fred and Jo. They wouldn't even touch our mediocre England squad. They need to get Coutinho and Lucas Moura back in, go with Neymar as false-9 and go back to their signature attacking flair.

Use 2015 and the following year's Pan American thing in the USA as experiments, then attack 2018 with a totally different approach.

Great German side against a Brazil team not so good, with good individual players but relying on heart and effort to get results until facing the German Wall. Germany played great, but let's face it, all the goals were very soft, Brazil defence a sambles. It really was one of those results that you won't again see between these teams for decades, everything went right for the Germans, everything wrong for Brazil. Sorry for the Brazilian people, so passionate about their team, that hurts (reminds me of Euro 2004 here in Portugal...).
I really enjoyed Germany, especially Khedira and Kroos, but the final will surely be a very different game.

    Paulo

    PS
I really miss Brazil's 82 team, looks like since then they never overcame that trauma. Hope they find a way to get back to the beautiful game for the benefit of all of us.

So Brazil get humiliated and the Fail run with Özil not having a meaningful contribution to the game. (93% pass completion, 2 assists)

Remember reading a piece about the goalkeeper from the 1950 World Cup saying that even fifty years on they had not be forgiven for losing to Uruguay in the final match when all Brazil needed was a draw to lift the trophy. I have a feeling that in fifty years time ( I know I won't be around ) the players will still feel the hurt from this match.

I suspect Brazil wish they didn't have to play a 3rd/4th games - another performance like that could lead to the Netherlands or Argentina given them a hammering.

Germany had it so easy - they almost walked the ball in the net at times.

That 3rd/4th place game is so utterly pointless, they really need to scrap it. Brazil are completely down now, and then they send them back on the pitch again for a pointless game? Utterly rubbish.

If we lose tonight I wouldn't care at all about that game. I'd be devastated for us not getting to the final, just like our players will be who would just want to go home. Personally, I'd just treat it as an international friendly: I'll only watch it if I've really got nothing better to do. And seeing as it's on Saturday night and I've already agreed to go out with friends I wouldn't watch that game at all. I'd definitely not change any of my plans for that.

Hopefully that game will be Brazil v Argentina. The rivalry would maybe make it slightly interesting and the Argies will probably be up for finishing Brazil's WC in total disaster, but still it would be pointless.

I couldn't believe what i was watching last night, the worst Brazil side i've seen in all my years. The Germans played brilliantly but were given a big helping hand by a shocking defence and Too many of The Brazil players were awful and not for the first time in the tournament,Hulk would struggle in League 1 and Luiz the most expensive defender ever? Jesus f*cking christ that's unbelievable!

The Fail and Express are a ****ing disgrace to their profession. During this Sanchez transfer business in a four hour period went from Liverpool to Arsenal to Juve and them back to Arsenal.
Ozil had a good game his passing was much more incisive than anyone else on the pitch. Shame he scuffed his shot at the end.

Even the next morning, I am still in shock at what I saw last night. Brazil looked like an amateur team.

I noticed on Facebook that most people were enjoying seeing Brazil get hammered by Germany. I never thought I would see the day when English people enjoyed seeing that!

The biggest disappointment for me was David Luiz, both in his play and his captaincy. As a player, Chelsea sometimes played him in midfield and I think that’s where he should be. I think he is genuinely world class in possession, but he is too error-prone to play in defence. But as stand-in captain, I was really disappointed with him last night. Brazil were the better team before the first goal and it was quite even until the second. At that point, I would expect to see the captain giving a rallying call, reminding his players that they have played OK so far and have 3/4 of the game still to go. Keep it tight and give yourself a chance. Instead, the camera cut to Luiz, standing on the edge of the box, head down and shaking, looking like a beaten man. Shocking!

He can’t take all the blame of course. The whole team looked inept and I really don’t think I have EVER seen a team’s heads collectively drop so visibly. At 2-0, there didn’t seem to be a single player who believed they could come back, despite there still being 70 minutes to go.

Credit to Germany though! The passing and awareness for Khedira’s goal and the finish for Schűrrle’s second goal, were brilliant. As bad as Brazil were, you still have to have the quality to take advantage and they did! I didn’t hear Őzil or Schweinstiger mentioned much. They are top players and didn’t have a great impact IMHO, but every other player seemed to have a very good game

I did get a little fed up with hearing the commentator creaming himself every time Neuer touched the ball. He is clearly a quality goalie, but it really was over the top. At one point, he said, “And that is why he is so far ahead of the others – His distribution is amazing!” when he had just rolled the ball 10 yards to a stationary Lahm in the left back position. As good as he is, I don’t agree with his repeated comment that he has been head and shoulders above any other goalie in the tournament. I would say he has been the second best, behind Keylor Navas of Costa Rica

Finally, huge credit to the Brazil fans after Schűrrle’s second goal, when they all applauded. I’m sure they were very down at the time, but that showed some class, though the Olé’s that followed, for the German passing were a little too piss-taking for my liking

I have Germany in the sweep stake at work, so I now want Argentina to win tonight, so that cheering for Germany becomes a little easier :-)

Even so, Robinho or Pato would surely have offered more than Fred? I think I covered more distance going for a piss at half time than he did in the entire tournament.

Nah Robinho has completely lost it. He's been shite for a couple of years now. Like a few other good Brazilians, they peak too early and don't have the professionalism to maintain their form and fitness.

I don't know whats happened to Pato, but I agree surely he's better than Fred. Fred looked good at the Confed Cup so I don't blame Scolari for sticking with him in the build-up to the tournament, but he should've been dropped after an abysmal group stage performance.

This would be my Brazil lineup for the 2015 Copa America, assuming everyone is fit:
    Julio Cesar
    Rafael
    Thiago Silva
    Miranda
Filipe Luis (more reliable than Marcelo)

    Gustavo
Fernandinho (if he can reproduce his brilliant City form)
Oscar (more attacking of the 3)

    Hulk/Moura
Neymar (false-9, played it brilliantly when Messi was injured last season)
    Coutinho

This has to be Alves and Maicon's last World Cup so there's no point in them playing in Copa America or qualification. If Rafael can have a solid fully-fit season under Van Gaal, surely he'll be recognised as Brazil's no.1 RB. Marcelo and David Luiz are just too unreliable and Dante seems to me to be highly overrated and masked by a Munich side that rarely concedes possession.

I'm not a huge fan of Paulinho, he's a decent PL player but not Brazil class. If Fernandinho can play like he does for City then he'd be an extremely useful player for them. Ramires would play against the better sides where workrate becomes more important.

Why Lucas Moura and Coutinho were left out of the squad I will never know, but they have to make a return if Brazil want any hope of playing and winning in the traditional Brazilian manner by 2018.

Even after these changes, they're just not a top team anymore and need a vast overhaul the likes of which were seen in Germany after their disastrous 2000 campaign and hammering by England, and get back to the top in about 15 years' time. I can't see them seriously challenging until at least 2026. This Germany team has another World Cup in it, Spain will be back with a vengeance, France have a very good young team.

Here's a question: Which result is more surprising, Netherlands 5-1 Spain or Brazil 1-7 Germany?

I think the 7-1. Our game against Spain was a big shock, but Spain weren't as bad as the scoreline suggests, they even took the lead and only capitulated in the second half. Also, despite us deserving the win, 5-1 did flatter us. Brazil were just diabolical from the start really (maybe except for the first 10 minutes) and if anything, the scoreline still flattered them. Germany could've won with double figures if they would have really gone for it.
