I don't understand the timing of the decision. Had the owners acted in the summer, I would have felt it was very harsh, but understandable. Had they waited until just before the transfer window or seen Liverpool fail to qualify for the Champions League again, then I don't think there would have been too much of an argument. But, with Liverpool six points off the top and the league as it is, there was no need, in my view, for the owners to act now. I think Rodgers has every right to feel highly aggrieved this evening.
Only because there's only been 8 games, the performances & results aren't there. Three cup draws as well anyway. Last season was also shite. No style of play, square pegs in round holes, & no improvement. Also there was a power struggle with Rodgers trying to get more control. It's right that he's gone.
The fact we are 6 points off top is pointless when it means you're in 10th place and the only team in the top ten with a negative goal difference. That's not trending in the right direction. Keeping a negative goal difference wouldn't even keep us in the top ten.
Don't even get me started on how unbalanced the squad is despite massive investment. The buck stops with Rodgers. Buck Rodgers.
Don't think we're in bad condition at all tbh. There's a few problem areas but we don't need huge investment.
I don't think it was player power. We don't have that many power players in the team with Gerrard, Carragher gone, so from looking at the squad I don't see any players in that team that would influence a managerial sacking. I'm actually believing that he still had the players behind him, he just played the wrong systems time and time again and players couldn't adjust or perform in the roles that they assigned too. Results weren't going there way and going against him. Rodgers got himself the sack, he didn't give Liverpool an identity, he kept hiding behind the same old excuse he used after Suarez was sold, that it was a rebuilding process, and it just never come to fruition, even after the money that was spent, we never looked any better off from before the money was actually spent. People can argue that he wasn't given enough time this season, but the players that he brought in this Summer, actually have Premiership experience, so shouldn't take long to hit the ground running, it takes time to gel together, I agree, but they spend time on training grounds, playing training matches to adjust themselves and get to know each other. I only expect that excuse to be thrown out is to the likes of Origi, Firminho, Markovic etc who have zero experience of Premiership football, and not played in the English style which is a lot different to what they are used too. But he just wouldn't learn any lessons that were clear to see from everybody, the defence were making mistake after mistake after mistake, only the goals for was what was saving us, and in some games, it went against us. He just wouldn't look at the bigger picture and realize that the defence was not up to scratch, how does he rectify it? He doesn't, he won't go out and learn how to set up a team to be a defensive unit, he doesn't sign any defenders that would make the defence stronger, Clyne is a good signing, but he is being utilized more as a RWB and the right of defence is not the problem, it's the center. We can see the problem, the press can see the problem, the pundits see the problem, why can't Rodgers see the problem? He is too naive to accept that there is a problem, and he hopes that signing more attacking minded players who can score goals, will hopefully see us through the mistakes and still walk away with a win. See the Villa result, at 2-0 we should be seeing out the game, we don't, at 3-1 we should realize that just sit back, keep these out and defend for our lives, we don't do that and more mistakes follow, does Rodgers alter anything in terms of subs? No, I wouldn't even consider bringing Allen on in the 94th minute to alter anything other than waste valuable seconds. That is one prime example of a game, where tactically Rodgers gets it wrong, and that's not the only one. So in short, yes I think the sacking was fair. I respect Rodgers, and wish him well in his future endeveours, I hope that he gets into a club where he can prove his doubters wrong and establish himself.
Agreed. There's plenty of quality in the squad for he new guy to work with. I think Klopp would love a lot of them too.
