We should, but probably won't. Would have liked to finish above Leeds and have the extra money! Least you know what to do if you need a point for Automatics next season!
Right, every time we take the lead from now on I'm going to sit in the middle of the pitch and cover myself in faeces.
What a bunch of dickheads the Football League are So all points should be decided on the pitch, yet they deduct Rotherham 3 points Would Blackpool have been given the 3 points had they been 1-0 up when their fans invaded the pitch? I doubt it somehow
I'm just thinking of all those matches over the years where we've needed something out of the game and I've been crapping my pants when all I needed to do was sit in the centre circle! On the pitch, on the pitch, on the pitch
So Blackpool didn't even lose any points? I could understand a 0-0 result, 1 point to Huddersfield if Blackpool lost said point (or more). Not the best decision ever made.. On the positives, at least the ruling didn't change the forum's prediction league playoff outcome.
Feel sorry for Huddersfield fans after this decision - I'm sure the Blackpool fans don't really care about that extra point anyway (and unlike HUFC haven't changed position through this result).
You wouldn't get any extra money, hence why the fixture is completely irrelevant and the football league have acted as such.
so what you're basically saying is that all mid table fixtures from April onwards don't need to be played as they're irrelevant?
Sure I read that you do but happy to be proved otherwise. Still don't set a good precedent tho! Hope the fans that went get refunded.
This decision is totally unfair on Huddersfield and completely ridiculous, if only for the obvious conclusion that, had we got every match abandoned at 0-0, we would have stayed up. I get the impression that Blackpool FC are becoming a problem for both the FA & FL. With no manager, no players, perhaps no chairman in the short-term because of a possible FA ban re 'textgate' and the bookies already showing the club as the rank outsider for L1 (or, in other words, a dead cert for relegation again), there has to be some doubt about whether the club is viable in it's current state. Or maybe they just don't give a shit. Who knows.
Or maybe it is something to do with Oyston being on the Football League Board. We were never going to get the decision when you factor that in
Struggling to understand the decision on the result. A 3-0 win for Huddersfield would have been the obvious solution. Even writing off the match completely and both teams finish the season having officially played just 45 games would have been more sensible than this. Not that it really matters. As for Blackpool, is there any way out for them? I'd bet good money on another relegation next season.
Obviously he wasn't involved 'officially' but he shouldn't be anywhere near the FL board anyway. I hope the Udders fans can get a refund off the club and spend it on a few beers or something. The decision to award a 0-0 draw is farcical.
I'm sure clubs wished they were, apart from trying youth players etc they resemble pre season friendlies. You used to, now only the top 2 in the division get place money. Don't get me wrong I think it's a poor decision from the football league as it sets a dangerous precedent for future matches, but i'm sure they'll point to the fact that this game had nothing riding on it. Blackpool should be fined and money should go to Huddersfield supporters who attended.
Didn't they bring in a rule to say that the game couldn't be given as a positive to the club who's fans invaded the pitch after it was used as a fairly common tactic in the 70s to get games abandoned rather than losing them?
