have to agree with @Pagnell , karius always has a mistake in him and I don't think he would have gone the amount of games adrian had to play without making one and once he did pressure would really be on him and he would not respond well to that

Distribution can be worked and improved on tbf. Adrian didn't look too assured in that respect but he improved as his run in the team went on.

The lack of authority in the area thing is an issue, true. Mignolet never improved in that respect in all the years at Liverpool. Adrian is impressive in that respect. It seems like something you either have or don't have.

Karius is a better shot stopper than all the above keepers mentioned though. And as such he'd be a suitable back-up if he was willing to keep his head down and work. Which is another issue altogether.

I miss Mignolet tbh I wish he would have stayed as number 2 what a bloke. Smashing it at Brugge though fair play he deserves to be number one somewhere.

The problem with Mignolet is that number two is exactly what he is.

  5. I'm with you.

if anyone ever watched the guy just warm up you can tell hes not actually bothered. any time mignolet was playing and he was sub he was arising round not bothered too much.

for me hes spent the last two years partying as well.

Don't get Pags started on him, he'll be here till next month going off on Karius. ;)

Would be surprised with Adrian going back to Betis though, as apparently he'd be #2 there also. Unless its the club he supports, or he has feelings for the place, why leave as second choice to this Liverpool side? If he does though, I wish him well.

  8. my view is he's a keeper that lets everything bounce of him. People go on about his clean sheets which is great and he made a few saves but we had vvd in front of the guy!

Under normal circumstances I'd be happy with Karius as number 2. Everything up until Kiev suggests he was a very decent keeper with a rick in him, but capable & much better suited to us than Mignolet.

However, Kiev was about as far from a normal circumstance as is possible. Judging by his time in Turkey he's never fully regained his confidence following that horror show (even concussion affected, it was the worst showing on the biggest stage possible in the club game). It would be incredibly hard to do so back at the club it happened with, who've signed the best GK in the world to replace him, the level of pressure he'd be under if we were forced to use him would be immense & I gravely doubt his capability to withstand it. He's better off elsewhere.

If Adrian does leave for first team football I'd probably have rather had Grabara back & have him as #2 until his recent injury tbh.

Karius would be best served returning to Germany, familiar surroundings and all that.

Nice. He didn't get awarded the goal from his freekick the other day but it nabbed Swansea a point in that game. Would like to see him given a chance with us, as he's took this loan like a duck to water.

Another goal for Brewster. 8 in 16 now for Swansea, it's great to see him scoring regularly. At 20 he needs to be playing games and this looks like an example of a loan move working really well for a prospect.

Basically scored a freekick too that was ruled as an own goal (I mean, rightly, but still counting it :laugh). 9 in 16 at that age is tremendous.

Yeah, he's technically not his goal but the goal was all his making.

Yesterday he was brilliant, linked up with Ayew really well, took his chance as he always seems to. Also put a lovely dink over the keeper but was slightly offside, and charged down a centre half which almost led to a goal but the ball bounced too close to the keeper.

With him in the side, we've got a real chance of the play-offs, just a point behind Cardiff now with four to play.

    Just a natural finisher.

He's done well for Oxford this season, he's just been injured for pretty much all of the season.

Really glad to see Brewster impressing on loan at Swansea, and hope he can push the team into the play-offs as that would be a massive experience for him.

I still have my doubts though as I cannot remember the last time a Liverpool youth player took a loan and came back really broke into the team. Last two big youth players to come into the side were Sterling and Alexander-Arnold, for example. Just jumped in.

He has an opportunity with the club seemingly not wanting to spend and so it doesn't look like the club will bring another player in who would stand in his way. But next season will be make or break for him at Liverpool. I would like to see him be first choice central forward in domestic cup games to see how he does up to January.

How has his all round play been generally,@Cotterill:49? Assuming he'd be expected to fill Firmino's boots for example. Has he bee used out wide at all?

It's difficult to tell how good his all round game is, because he's playing in a really inconsistent side where service is minimal, and where he's rarely had the opportunity to get the ball to feet. In the games where we've played really well, and been able to pass the ball around and feed him, he's done well and linked the play up, but it's not much of a sample size. His work rate has been decent.

He hasn't played any position other than down the middle, and I think that has to be the only role he'll play in his career. His strengths are if the ball falls to him in between the two posts, where it's tended to be a goal.

He has been a bit of a moany bastard to be honest when decisions haven't gone his way, but it's good to see that a loanee actually cares, and he's got in a couple of scraps but hasn't done anything stupid in them.

I could definitely see him being back-up to Firmino next season, he's probably a much more natural goalscorer than Divock is. If we do somehow manage to get promoted though, we're going to be desperate for him on loan.

Cheers. From my memory he got played maybe once outwide in a cup game earlier in the season... but lot of floating between the front three as usual. He didn't do particularly well. If he can find a streak of taking his chances when given minutes then he will be great for this Liverpool team off the bench.

I like Origi central, but he is very inconsistent and he has played a number of games this season with little reward. He hasn't hit double figures in all competitions since 2016-17. We need forwards who can come on and consistently nick goals. Look at Mason Greenwood at United, though he seems to have played his way into the first team now.

Origi is helped by fact he is versatile though and seems happy to play a bit part role... I'd only sell him if he wanted to go and a decent offer came in. He shouldn't stand in Brewster's way to first team chances though next season. I would resist sending Brewster out on loan next season, maybe in January if he isn't getting near the first team.

I think if Origi stays, and there's a Premier League side that's going to be starting him every game he's fit, then it'd make sense to loan him out if we were to get promoted. There's no point in him going back to any lower than the Championship standard though, if he was at Leeds he'd be scoring a goal a game and he's too good for this level.

Yeah, if he was to stay at Liverpool next season I think he needs to be given as much time as possible in cup games, and I think he will notch up the goals and build up his confidence. If he starts early League Cup games he's going to score. Getting five minutes here or there, and he might struggle to make an impact.
