^ This. I heard it's also because of the laser pointer that was directed at Schmeichel before the penalty and some fireworks of english fans. Tbh Why punishing the english FA because of that? It's not their fault what some fans do. I always hate those punishments of the clubs or the FA for actions taken by some fans. We? So, you too, Super? I'm disappointed of you
On the other hand, if the Ref doesn't blow his whistle there, no way VAR is calling it a penalty. But you have VAR and in a situation like this there's absolutely no reason for the Ref to not go to his screen and watch it again. It's just very poor refereeing and a mistake by the VAR. It's like both were happy to not take responsability and just hope noone else would notice, but that's not what you want from a Ref. If the ref goes to the screen and stands by his decision I would be fine with this. It's just a bit of a shame the game was decided by this but England deserved to win and seeing how easy that 2nd half of ET went you would think you'd be able to score another one.
That is true. As happened with the Kane incident. Guess it shows the inconsistency of the system . Wasn’t me .. honest !
Grealish is better at keeping the ball, winning free-kicks and running down the clock. Remember Sterling giving away the ball against Germany that led to Muller running through on goal? He had 2 choices. 1. Humiliate Grealish or Foden 2. Take off Sterling He chose to humiliate. I've lost all respect for him.
The Italian media are having a pop calling England divers. The Italian media... Clearly they've never seen Ciro Immobile?
I'm not convinced about all this outrage at booing anthems. England don't even have an anthem, we have to use the UK anthem while Scotland and Wales have their own national songs. Booing anthems is of course pretty classless behaviour, but we're football fans at a football match, some of the stuff I've heard (and probably joined in with) over the years has been in extremely poor taste. (Munich/Shankly/Hillsborough/Posh Spice/Harold Shipman/Asa Hartford etc. etc. etc.)
Half their game with Spain was the two teams trying to roll on the floor more than each other People can call it a dive from Sterling all they want, there's clear contact made by both players on either side of him and they both block him off with no attempt to play the ball.
There probably would be as many complaints from England players , fans etc if it hadn’t been given and we’d lost . It was one of those decisions. Same with the free kick and Kane incident .
How is the Kane incident in any way controversial? Kane was fouled and it would have been a penalty had he not fouled the Danish player immediately before.
What I liked about last night is how we sustained pressure against a deep block. We will need that against Italy, who I think will revert to type after 60 minutes (if they are not losing)
Because the referee took so long to blow that it would appear the freekick was given for simulation, if it was given for a foul before that then there is no controversy.
Not heard anything regarding two balls on the pitch, are you sure it's genuine?...All I've been hearing is about some absolute idiot with a laser pen. If anybody knows who that was they should be named and shamed and given several slaps.
People still go on about the Lampard 'goal' against Germany in 2010, but they were so far ahead of us that I didn't feel robbed in the slightest. Similar feeling but in reverse last night. We were superior to Denmark by some way on the night and they can't really have too many complaints.
In all the talk about our penalty, people seem to forget that Denmark's goal should have been disallowed (and the free kick re-taken, I guess), because of the new rules around walls.
