Chokes me up reading and listening to quotes today. Jose Mourinho paid a fitting tribute. "I didn't talk with him in the last two months because it was hard for me. It was hard for me because I didn't want to think that he was dying, it wasn't that image of Bobby Robson that I wanted to keep forever, it wasn't that voice that I wanted to hear. I wanted, and I will always keep it with me, the Bobby Robson of every day, a man with an extraordinary passion for life and football, with extraordinary enthusiasm. Bobby Robson is one of those people who will never die, not just for what he did in his career, for a victory more or a victory less, but for everything that he gave to those who like me were lucky to know him and walk by his side. My thoughts and embrace go to his loved ones."
A true legend to the game, honest well respected bloke in football. It's massive loss of the game, RIP Sir Bobby Robson.
A Football Great and such a nice person A sad day for football but for neutrals like myself you show what a football manager is meant to act like and that is the reason why you are so well respected A true gent and your teams did the talking for you - RIP Sir Bobby
A geordie and a gent. Proud to have had this guy associated with my club, I'm just saddened that he departs whilst we are the mess we are.
Sir Bobby was one of those rare people who was beyond football rivalries He will be talked about with the same warmth in one hundred years time A little part of the game died today! R.I.P Sir Bobby
For me a huge part of what the North East of England was all about has died today. Rest in Peace Sir Bob. You sir will be missed from not only the game but from the North East of England as a whole. The 4th Plinth has just found a new owner!
R.I.P Sir Bobby Robson 17 year battle of cancer on and of i think he was always going to go just had be today like other people said he has won the battle not lost it and im glad he got to say good bye to newcastle fans at that match last week
RIP Sir Bobby ( a true legend ) I have some fantastic memories of what he achieved with Ipswich Town as i was growing up as a kid.
Reading through this thread I think the testaments from Ferguson and Mourinho say it all really. Ferguson: In my 23 years working in England there is not a person I would put an inch above Bobby Robson. I mourn the passing of a great friend; a wonderful individual; a tremendous football man and somebody with passion and knowledge of the game that was unsurpassed. Mourinho: Bobby Robson is one of those people who will never die, not just for what he did in his career, for a victory more or a victory less, but for everything that he gave to those who like me were lucky to know him and walk by his side. My thoughts and embrace go to his loved ones. When you have respect like that from two of the biggest names in football you are a very, very special man.
