It is crazy to watch and i know the rules. There is a sprint every tenth lap with points up for grabs. The teams are in pairs and the two riders per team take it in turns to keep the pace going while the other rider takes a quick breather, they will grab hands to slingshot the resting rider back into the race. Does look odd to some who have not seen it before. GB got the silver just three points behind Denmark.
Another gold in the Modern Pentathlon. Egyptian ran our guy close but he had a good burst of speed to get gold .
Crikey. A German coach has been thrown out of the Olympics for appearing to punch a horse who was refusing to jump or trot during the modern pentathlon. Coach Kim Raisner was heard on German TV urging tearful athlete Annika Schleu to "really hit" the horse while she struggled to control Saint Boy during the showjumping round of Friday's women's event. Schleu had been leading the event before the equestrian, where athletes are given just 20 minutes to bond with a horse they have never ridden. Modern pentathlon's governing body, the UIPM, said it had reviewed video footage that appeared to show Raisner - who competed at the 2004 Olympics in modern pentathlon - striking the horse with her fist. "Her actions were deemed to be in violation of the UIPM competition rules, which are applied to all recognised modern pentathlon competitions including the Olympic Games," the governing body said in a statement. "The UIPM Executive Board [EB] has given a black card to the Germany team coach Kim Raisner, disqualifying her from the remainder of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games. "The EB decision was made today at the Tokyo Stadium before the resumption of the men's modern pentathlon competition." German coach thrown out for horse punch
Tried watching the diving at stupid o'clock this morning. Since I have absolutely no idea what makes a good dive and what makes a bad dive it bored me silly, it was as if the judges were just making the scores up. Gave it 20 minutes then binned it.
Diving is interesting enough at the Olympics. I just look for least amount of splash and that's what most clueless people seem to do. Obviously the difficulty of the dive they are trying is something to look at as well
I think that is basically it! Guess they have to be so straight and streamlined when going into the water - arms/legs together. A solid Athletics session. Got better as we went on with some good medals. Shame no golds.
Should have dive bombing at the Olympics. The biggest splash wins. Just watched Brazil beat Spain 2-1 in the mens football final after extra time. Richarlison with the worst penalty miss ever.
Them pesky Russians. They would have got away with cheating but for those meddling kids. Oh they did get away with it. Grrr.
Could match the total from London which seemed unlikely have to say before the games started. And it's only 3 years till the next one of course.
yeah, splash and the entry are the only 2 things my untrained eye Looks for. She’s a really good boxer. I have only really been confident of 1 boxing gold in the Olympics, and that was Lauren price. Her hands and feet are much quicker than these girls and they’re not used to it. The Chinese girl has never fought her, and that suits Lauren because she’s a different shape and style to most of the other girls at the weight. She’s gonna have to figure her style out really quickly She’s got a great style for the pros. I think she’s gonna be a big star. with Savannah marshal and clarissa shields at the same weight, there’s potentially some big fights down the round
The Welsh boxing lass has completely schooled the Chinese girl & bagged a Gold . She's also a kick boxer & footballer as well . The Irish girl who won boxing gold earlier will go back to work as a cleaner in a Dublin hospital when she gets hope , humbling .
A great Olympics with so many wonderful athletes and fantastic performances Credit to all our medal winners . 2 super golds to round things off.
Boxing masterclass from Lauren there. Tactics and execution spot-on. Great stuff. You have to hand it to Jason Kenny, has looked off the pace all week but shows his know-how and winning mentality to completely outfox the rest of the field to win another gold.
Another fantastic games for team GB. 4th in the table and over achieving again. The boxers secured medals in 6 of the 13 divisions, Laura and Jason Jenny’s golds were both unbelievable and easy in the end. The highlight for me was Charlotte Worthington in the bmx freestyle. The American girl literally did a victory lap after her first run, and no one saw past her for the gold. Just an incredible moment when those scores came in, and the reaction of the British team. It’s what the games are all about Roll on Paris.
