Yes there is a steam train ride. There’s a train track in front of the hotel down by the loch. Not sure if it’s the same line. Would like to ride a steam train.
Just landed in Guernsey, here for a couple of days before London and then home. These little island hoppers is what flying is all about;
In Osaka, Japan at the moment. Was in Singapore and Malaysia before this. Too hot but having a lovely time.
It's good, it's very good, but it's not the answer on my card. Actually, I've conferred with the judges and they think I'm being a bit harsh there. It was taken just off Portabello and it's the blue door that featured in the film, Notting Hill..
The travel bookshop that Will owned never was a Travel bookshop in real life, it's a gift shop with all sorts of film related paraphernalia, which is a shame because I was going to go in and ask for a copy of Winnie The Pooh by A.A.Milne
End of September we are flying to Barcelona Reus airport and basing in Salou for 10 nights. We have day trips planned which include Barcelona (particularly keen to see Parc Guell for the first time and Sagrada Familia again), Portadventura, Tarragona and take in some new places in the Catalonia region of Spain.
Just booked a short weekend in Blackburn for early in the New Year. Living the Life. If they haven't filled the holes, I'll get some pictures.
Off to Cologne on Wednesday for a few days. Looking forward to it as have been meaning to go for a while but for the life of me I cannot remember what peaked my interest.
Off to New Zealand in three weeks. I'd originally planned to let a travel agent do all the arranging as we're doing a whistle stop tour at a lot of places in the south island, but they want NZ$6,500 which I thought was very steep so I've done it all myself. Travelling on public transport, we land in Christchurch, stay two nights, then two nights in Dunedin, one night in Invercargil, two nights in Te Anau, three nights in Queenstown, two nights in Wanaka, one night in Franz Josef and then a night in Hokitika before we fly over the southern alps back to Christchurch for our flight back to Melbourne the next day. Scenery looks mint.
Off to Scotland on the 29th for 5 days. It’s a coach tour which I never thought I would do. Going to Fort William, Glencoe, Oban and Rannoch Moor.
Off to the Algarve for a week in March. First visit to the region so looking forward to it, it'll be the wife's first time in Portugal too. I think we're going to squeeze in a long weekend in York before then though
Here now, back tomorrow. It is fabulous in the Highlands, breathtaking views, even if the weather has been slightly challenging
Went to Tasmania recently, absolutely incredible. The total opposite side of the world to home and at times, both in terms of the people and climate, it really did feel like home. What a place though, absolutely stunning, some of the best beaches I have ever seen. The people couldn't have been more friendly but it's hard to describe how remote it is...500k people on an island not that much smaller than England!
We went to Cradle mountain while we were there, simply stunning views and the wildlife is right on your door step. However, when it comes to stunning views, we were in Te Anau and the road leading to the Milford sound yesterday. Incredible scenery.
It's 19 weeks until we return to Florida. I haven't been abroad since 2018, haven't been to the States since 2017, and haven't been to Florida since 2016 (after being used to going all the time since I was about 14). Really looking forward to it. Something about being roasting outside, and chilly inside just hits me right.
