Curb Your Enthusiasm S12. The glorious twelfth and unfortunately the last of Larry David’s brilliant show. Something like 120 episodes over twenty years of some of the best comedy writing to ever come out of the US. I almost didn’t watch the last instalment so I didn’t have to start curbing my disappointment that there won’t be any more LD. 9.5999/10.
Dexter Rewatching this after a few years now it’s back on Netflix. While it very clearly dropped in quality from seasons 5-8 (quite drastically and then off a cliff for season 8), S1-4 is some of the best tv ever in my opinion. Even now when I know what’s going to happen I still get tense watching it. S4 in particular is outstanding. John Lithgow has great range as an actor but he was absolutely immense as the trinity killer
Fallout - Amazon prime a couple of episodes in to this and it is really good so far. The story is based on a popular computer game, set 150 years in an alternative future where a nuclear war destroyed most of the planet in the 1950s. 200 years on and it follows the story Lucy who’s family (and other rich families) have lived in a large underground nuclear bunker since the war. Raiders have infiltrated the bunker and kidnapped her dad, who is the community leader, and Lucy decides to leave the ‘safety’ of their home and go ‘up top’ to find him In essence it’s appears to be a story of haves, and have nots. Those rich enough shut themselves away whilst the rest had to survive and fend for themselves in the new world. Walton goggins (who plays the transvestite in SoA) is already stealing the show as a half dead tv cowboy turned bandit
It was a poor season in truth but at least it ended fine. Speaking of Curb, I always thought Meet the Richardsons was basically a British equivalent of Curb, but the recent news has really ruined it a bit.
Meet the Richardsons started off okay, but went rapidly downhill after the first series, concentrating on shoehorning minor celebs into the programme rather than the absurdity of their own relationship. As you hinted though, today's announcement of their divorce kind of kills the whole thing stone dead.
Fallout 8.5/10 - I absolutely adore the game series and whilst this isn't exactly canonically accurate, it is faithful in so many other ways and draws inspiration from all the games in a satisfying way. Although regarding the post a couple above this - the bombs dropped in 2077
Fallout [2024] Dystopian, post apocalyptic nuttyness. Great blend of cynicism, fatalism, optimism and sheer bloody silliness. The humour is always dark, the characters always have depth and the special effects are excellent throughout. No doubt there'll be a 2nd series, or at least I hope there is. Ella Purnell is a new face to me, but she carries the whole show, and Walton Goggins' hours in make up result in a unique look and a personality that's hard to like but equally hard to dislike. Loved it. 8.6603/10
Just finished watching The Terminal List on Prime. 8/10. Mate recommended it to me because he knew I enjoyed Reacher. Wasn't sold after the first episode found it confusing and didn't know what was real and happening but the situation and conspiracy quickly becomes clear and there's loads of decent action scenes which is always a win. I'd like a season 2 but in terms of the story not sure if there really needs to be another one tbh. I've played all the Fallout games loved them don't think I ever managed to complete one they was a little bit too difficult for me. After what people have said about the show above I am definitely gonna try it soon.
played Fallout 3 until the game froze on me early doors and never revisited. Picked up Fallout 4 cheap in CEX, installed it but never played it. I really want to though and maybe the TV show could prompt me to do so - binged Skyrim to the hilt when it came out so hopefully once i get into the game i should be hooked. Finished both series of Extraordinary last week. its a pretty funny show with a good soundtrack,. the last episode really got me in the feels, which you dont expect a comedy show to do so! (for those who no longer have their parents they will understand). The main character is actually starting to grind my gears a bit, but the supporting characters are visible enough to offset her.
Baby Reindeer A failing stand up comedian is being stalked by a serial stalker. Hilarious at times and heart wrenching at others this was surprisingly good and only 7 episodes well worth a watch on Netflix. 9/10
Griselda - I enjoyed the first 3/4 episodes but it never really got to the good part. I started watching it forever ago, took me ages to get round to finishing it, wish I never had. First 3 - 7.5/10 Last 3 - 4/10
I thought the show was great but could never really get in to the games. Think I played fallout 3 for a few hours and gave up. Just wasn’t my cup of tea
Brilliant wan't it? And a true tale of the life of the bloke who wrote and acted the main part. I'd love to see more of him (in a non sexual way)
Baby Reindeer.. Honestly I don't even know what to say about this show. Twisted, dark, disturbing to put it mildly. But I was hooked start to finish.
